Child dead, 10 missing in Okara boat capsize

LARKANA: A child has died while ten people including women and children are still missing when a boat carrying 50 people capsized near Thali Jamal Okara in River Sutlej.

The boat overturned as it was overloaded and more than 50 people were on the boat in River Sutlej.

According to rescue officials, 31 people have been rescued while 10 are still missing and a dead body of a child has also been recovered.

The residents of the surrounding areas are also helping in the rescue efforts in river Sutlej while several passengers managed to save themselves.

Caretaker Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi has directed the concerned authorities to speed up the rescue operation and ordered authorities to monitor the rescue operation.
