Chinese premier arrives in Islamabad to attend SCO summit

ISLAMABAD: Chinese Prime Minister Li Qiang arrived in Islamabad today around noon to attend the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) summit, marking the first visit by a Chinese premier to Pakistan in 11 years.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif personally welcomed his Chinese counterpart at the airport.
Preparations completed, PM Sharif to chair SCO summit tomorrow
Prime Minister Li Qiang will now proceed to the Prime Minister’s House, where he will be honoured with a ceremonial guard of honour.
High-level meetings between the two leaders will follow, along with delegation-level discussions aimed at enhancing bilateral cooperation.
Both Prime Ministers will also participate in a signing ceremony for a Memorandum of Understanding that will expand China-Pakistan cooperation, with a special focus on the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) phase 2 and other key projects.
Foreign delegations continue to arrive in Islamabad for SCO summit
Additionally, the virtual inauguration of Gwadar International Airport is set to take place during the visit of the Chinese premier.
