CJP categorically refuses extension in service

ISLAMABAD: Putting all speculations to rest Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Qazi Faez Isa has categorically refused to accept an extension.

Responding to a journalist’s question about his willingness for an extension, the CJP firmly stated, “If they offer an extension, I will not take it.”

In response to another question, Justice Isa said, “Bring Rana Sanaullah in front of me.” He clarified that he had neither met nor spoken to Rana Sanaullah.

Advisor to PM for Inter-Provincial Coordination Rana Sanaullah had claimed Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Justice Qazi Faez Isa has denied accepting an extension in his service tenure.

Justice Isa further revealed, “I had spoken with Azam Nazeer Tarar, and at that time, Justice Mansoor Ali Shah and the Attorney General were also present. It was suggested that an extension could be given to the Chief Justice, but I clearly refused.”

He said if others want an extension in their service, they can take it, but I will not accept it.

” He added, “I don’t even know if I will be alive tomorrow.”

When asked why the matter of the six judges’ letter is not being scheduled for a hearing, Chief Justice Isa replied, “The committee is responsible for scheduling the case regarding the six judges’ letter.”

He also clarified that the bench could not be formed earlier due to Justice Musarrat Hilali’s health issues, which caused her absence from the court.

The Chief Justice further shared a conversation with the law minister, stating, “The law minister had mentioned that extensions are being given to all Chief Justices.”
