ISLAMABAD: The National Cyber Emergency Response Team (CERT) has issued an advisory in response to false rumours about ATM and online banking shutdowns.
The advisory states that no ATMs are closed, and no cyberattacks have been reported.
CERT said that in light of Pakistan-India tensions and concerns of cyber warfare, national CERT, financial institutions, and their cybersecurity teams are on alert. It is in this context that the advisory was issued.
The advisory warns people to stay alert against fake rumours regarding the shutdown of ATMs and online banking.
The State Bank has clarified that the banking system is operating normally. Users are advised not to share their ATM cards or banking information with anyone. They should avoid scams, stay away from suspicious links, and get information only from verified sources, according to CERT
