Dengue’s grip tightens on Khyber Pakhtunkhwa

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa

PESHAWAR: Peshawar has emerged as the most affected district by the dengue virus in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa this year, with 838 cases reported so far, according to the KP Health Department. Out of these, 594 new cases were recorded in October alone, signalling a sharp rise in infections as the region grapples with the outbreak.

Across KP, the total number of dengue cases for the year has now reached 2,569, with 485 of those remaining active. Over the past 24 hours, 54 new cases were confirmed by health authorities.

The surge in cases has placed increasing pressure on healthcare systems, with authorities urging the public to take preventive measures to combat the spread of the virus.

With the monsoon season exacerbating the situation, Peshawar remains among the high-risk areas of dengue spread in the province.
