Driving licence issuing process accelerated in Lahore

LAHORE: The Chief Minister (CM) of Punjab Mohsin Naqvi recently shared achievements in traffic management, including a significant reduction in the time it takes to obtain driving licence in Lahore.

It was disclosed that previously, 245 licences were generated in Lahore every day, but now three licences are generated per second.

This acceleration in the issuance of driving licenses is attributed to the prompt measures taken by Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi, facilitating the general public.

The surge in the pace of driving licence issuance is noticeable in Lahore’s City Traffic Police offices, including the driving licence centre in Gulberg Lahore.

In the late ’60s or ’70s, the number of driving licences stood at 6.5 million, and now it has risen to 11.5 million.

Simultaneously, CTD and Elite police training schools underwent upgrades, with the patrolling police contributing commendably to axle-load management.

CM Naqvi emphasised cost savings in the construction of safe city projects in Faisalabad, Gujranwala, and Rawalpindi, highlighting the commitment to fiscal responsibility.

As reported by The News, the CM visited Police Khidmat Markaz Liberty in Lahore at night and inspected the conduct of online tests on Wednesday.

He commended the enhanced facilities provided at the driving licence office in Lahore’s Liberty Market.

Additionally, he advised unsuccessful applicants to retry their luck with thorough preparation, encouraging them to seek guidance from the experiences of other citizens.

Furthermore, Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi reiterated his concern over driving without a licence, referencing a previous incident in which six family members lost their lives due to an underage driver in the Defence Housing Authority (DHA) Lahore.

Consequently, he announced strict action against individuals driving without licences, underscoring the dangers posed not only to themselves but also to other citizens.
