ECP announces to release presidential election schedule on March 1

ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has announced to release the schedule for the presidential election on March 1.

According to the ECP, all assemblies will come into existence on February 29, after which the required electoral college for the election of the president will be completed.

It said that according to Articles 91 and 130 of the constitution, the first session of all assemblies must be convened within 21 days after the general election, and according to Article 41/4, the election of the president of Pakistan must be held within 30 days after the general election.

According to the announcement, the ECP will release the schedule for the presidential election on March 1, and one day will be given for the submission of nomination papers by the presidential candidates.

Furthermore, the ECP said that candidates can submit their nomination papers to any presiding officer until 12 noon on March 2.
