Eid celebrations marked by nationwide prayer gatherings, animal sacrifice

WEB DESK: Eidul Adha is being observed today with religious fervour across the country, featuring numerous Eid prayer gatherings.

On this occasion, prayers were offered for the safety and prosperity of Pakistan, along with special prayers for the Muslims of Palestine.

Following the prayers, animals are being sacrificed in accordance with Sunnah Ibrahimi, a practice set to continue for three days.

In the lead-up to the sacrifice, cattle markets across the country experienced a rush of activity throughout the night. Customers in various cities, including Karachi, Peshawar, Lahore, Multan, and Sukkur, reported high prices for animals.

The Pakistan Tanners Association has provided estimates for the number of animals to be sacrificed this year.

According to the association, the country will see the sacrifice of 33 million goats, 28.5 million cows, 4.5 million buffaloes, 1.5 million buffalo calves, and 99 thousand camels during Eidul Adha.
