Eid Miladun Nabi: Will there be a three-day holiday?

ISLAMABAD:  Speculation is ripe whether there will be a three-day holiday next week on account of Eid Miladun Nabi, which is likely to fall on September 16.

The government has listed 12 Rabi ul-Awwal (Eid Miladun Nabi) as a public holiday in the calendar of the year 2024. According to the official circular, Eid Milad-un-Nabi will be celebrated on September 16, 2024.

However, the final decision will be taken after the moon of the new Islamic month is sighted.

In this regard, the meeting of the Ruet-e-Hilal Committee will be held today.

If the moon is sighted on September 4, the first Rabi-ul-Awwal will be on the 5th of September, while the 12th of Rabi-ul-Awwal will be on the 16th of September (Monday).

This year, as the occasion falls on Monday, there is widespread anticipation that there will be an extended weekend. The potential three-day holiday encompassing, Saturday, Sunday and Monday for those who have Saturdays off and two days holiday for those who only have Sundays off.
