Electricity Shortfall Reaches 6,500MW

ISLAMABAD: The electricity shortfall in Pakistan has reached 6,500 megawatts (MW), causing power outages of four to six hours in urban cities and twelve hours in rural areas.
According to the power division sources, the demand in the country for electricity has surged to 26,800 megawatts while the power supply is 20,300 megawatts. The shortfall has resulted in four to six hours of power outages in urban areas and twelve hours in rural areas.
Unannounced and prolonged load shedding is being carried out in areas of high line losses and power pilferages.
