ISLAMABAD: In a recent development at the Judicial Complex in Islamabad, the Accountability Court has extended former federal minister Fawad Chaudhry’s physical remand for six-days.

The verdict follows his 10-day physical remand after which he was presented in the court today.

Fawad Chaudhry was brought to the court amid heightened legal scrutiny, with lawyers presenting their arguments and completing the requisite legal proceedings. Subsequently, the court had reserved its decision on the request for remand.

Announcing the verdict, the accountability court directed the authorities to continue the investigation diligently and meet with the lawyers involved, in adherence to its directives.

Further proceedings in the case are scheduled for January 5, when Fawad Chaudhry will be produced before the accountability court once again.

Earlier, the Lahore High Court (LHC) suspended a decision to declare Fawad Chaudhry as an absconder. Notices have been issued to all concerned parties, summoning them on January 11.

An Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) judge had previously declared Fawad Chaudhry as an absconder based on a police report, a decision that has now been temporarily halted pending further legal deliberations.
