Firefighting efforts intensify as Margalla Hills blaze continues

ISLAMABAD: A fire that erupted on the Margalla Hills yesterday is still being actively battled by firefighting teams. The blaze began on the Saidpur Range’s Trail-3 and has since spread towards Trail-5, according to the Capital Development Authority (CDA).

Over 65 firefighters are currently engaged in extinguishing the fire, with teams dispatched promptly to the affected areas. The CDA has reported that the fire on Trail-3 has been brought under control, but efforts are still underway to fully extinguish the flames on Trail-5.

In response to the ongoing threat, the CDA has deployed additional teams to expedite the firefighting process. The operation is being personally supervised by the CDA teams, ensuring that all necessary resources and strategies are being employed to contain the fire swiftly.

The situation is being monitored closely, with all available resources directed towards bringing the fire under control and preventing further spread.

According to latest reports, the Pakistan Navy has also joined the efforts to extinguish the fire raging on the Margalla Hills. A dedicated team and two fire tenders from the Navy are actively engaged in combating the blaze.

In addition to the ground efforts, a helicopter is being utilised to drop water over the affected areas, significantly aiding in the firefighting operations. The Navy’s involvement underscores the gravity of the situation and the coordinated efforts required to protect this important natural landmark.
