ISLAMABAD: Foreign Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar met with Chinese Communist Party’s International Department Minister Liu Jianchao in Beijing, with both sides agreeing to further strengthen strategic cooperation between Pakistan and China.

During the meeting, the two leaders emphasised enhancing collaboration between political parties, including closer ties between Pakistan’s ruling party and the Chinese Communist Party.

FM Dar reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to deepening its “iron-clad friendship” with China, while Liu assured Beijing’s continued support for Pakistan’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.

“China will firmly stand by Pakistan in safeguarding its core interests,” Liu said. Dar appreciated China’s steadfast backing, particularly on regional and international issues.

The foreign minister also raised concerns over India’s unilateral suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty, urging the international community to take notice.

He stressed that the Jammu and Kashmir dispute must be resolved in accordance with UN resolutions, calling it “imperative for regional peace.”

The meeting coincided with the eve of the 74th anniversary of Pakistan-China diplomatic relations, which will be celebrated on Tuesday.

The discussions reflect the deepening strategic partnership between the two allies, particularly under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and broader regional cooperation.
