Full court to hear SIC pleas on reserved seats

ISLAMABAD: A 13-member full-court bench of the Supreme Court has been formed to hear the Sunni Ittehad Council’s (SIC) reserved seats case on Monday (June 3).

Chief Justice of Pakistan Qazi Faez Isa would head the bench. Justice Musarrat Hilali will not be present to hear the case due to illness.

On May 6, Supreme Court (SC) suspended the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) and Peshawar High Court’s (PHC) verdict on Sunni Ittehad Council (SIC) reserved seats on Monday.

The three-member bench headed by Justice Mansoor Ali Shah, comprising Justice Muhammad Ali Mazhar and Justice Athar Minallah suspended the verdict pertaining to the allocation of reserved seats to other political parties

It is worth mentioning here that the Peshawar High Court (PHC) earlier dismissed petitions of the Sunni Ittehad Council (SIC) over reserved seats in assemblies.
