Gandapur defends CTD’s performance in response to PM’s statement

PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur held a press conference today to address the complaints against the performance of provincial Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD).

He said, “The Prime Minister has said that CTD is not fully functional in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He has been given wrong information about the department”.

The chief minister said that the CTD has been improved in the province and is in the process of further improvements. “CTD’s performance is also improving in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa”, Gandapur said.

The CM also said that prosecution has been intensified to punish terrorists. “When terrorists are released from the courts, it becomes a problem for the forces,” Gandapur added.

The provincial chief also informed that the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa CTD has created modern cells for investigation. “We have created cells not for punishment but for reform. These are our people, it is important to know that Why are they going on the wrong,” he said.

Gandapur also said that the province’s forensic lab is fully functional. Moreover, 20 bomb-proof vehicles are being provided, to the CTD personnel. “There was a shortage of 300 kits, funds will be provided for this too,” Khyber Pakhtunkhwa CM said, adding, “There was a shortage of snipers. Funds will be released immediately for that as well.”

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chief minister said that 16 high-tech drones will also be approved by the cabinet. The provincial government is increasing the compensation quota for martyrs by more than 12 per cent. “Families of martyrs of all forces and paramedical staff are being given plots,” Ali Amin Gandapur added.

However, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chief minister said that the provincial government is still getting less funds than the commitments made by the federal government. “We have spent more funds against terrorism than were given to us by the federal government,” Ali Amin Gandapur said.
