ISLAMABAD: The Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) Pakistan has put forward its demands to the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) for the formation of the coalition federal government.
According to sources, the MQM’s three demands are related to legal reforms and the rest were of political nature.
Sources said that MQM has demanded that the National Finance Commission Award money should be given directly to the local governments instead of the provinces, Geo News reported.
The MQM has demanded that the local governments should continue to function and where they are not functioning, the general election should not be held there.
The MQM has also demanded that the quota system should be implemented across the country with legal guarantees.
Sources also said that the MQM has demanded the Sindh governorship and federal ministries.
Sources said that PML-N has responded that they will decide on these demands after the negotiations with the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP).
It may be recalled that the MQM has announced to form the federal government with the PML-N and the PPP.
