PESHAWAR: In a move aimed at increasing literacy rates and improving access to education, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Education Department has approved the “Sabaoon Schools Initiative Programme.”
This initiative will provide educational opportunities in private schools at the government’s expense for students in integrated tribal districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
According to an official document released by the Education Department, the program is set to address the issue of out-of-school students by facilitating their education in private educational institutions. The government will bear the cost of education for students from Kindergarten (KG) to 8th grade.

The program is set to commence in areas where government schools are currently unavailable. In its initial phase, the program will be launched in seven integrated tribal districts and six divisions. These include Bajaur with four schools, Mohmand and Khyber with three schools each, and Orakzai, Kurram, and North Waziristan with two schools each.
In addition to enhancing educational opportunities, the program aims to generate employment for the local youth. The official document suggests that this initiative will provide education to approximately 4,000 students and create employment opportunities for around 100 young individuals.
To further promote education in areas where private schools are lacking, the KP education department has also announced grants of up to one lakh rupees for establishing new educational institutions. This financial support will not only bolster the existing education system but also encourage the development of educational infrastructure in underserved regions.
KP Education Department has allocated a budget of Rs 80 million for the Sabaoon Schools Initiative Program this year, emphasising the government’s commitment to improving educational access and quality in the tribal districts of Peshawar.
