Green Tractor Scheme draws massive interest with over 1.5m applications

LAHORE: The Punjab government’s Green Tractor Scheme has witnessed an extraordinary turnout, with more than 1.5 million farmers applying for subsidised tractors.

Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz’s initiative seeks to distribute 9,500 tractors at discounted rates through a lottery system, offering subsidy of Rs 1 million on Pakistan-manufactured tractors with horsepower ranging from 50 to 85. Farmers who own between 1-50 acres of land are eligible to participate in this programme.

The tractors under this scheme include models from prominent local manufacturers such as Massey Ferguson, New Holland Al-Ghazi, and Millat Tractor Company.

The application window closed on October 10, 2024, following which the verification process, including confirmation of land ownership by the relevant authorities was completed. The balloting for the scheme took place on October 20, 2024.

Successful applicants will receive notification via SMS on their registered mobile numbers. Additionally, they can check their status on the official website, with district-wise results available for download.

This scheme is expected to provide significant support to farmers throughout Punjab, enhancing agricultural efficiency and food production.
