KARACHI: Justice Amjad Ali of the Sindh High Court (SHC) presided over a hearing on the issue of the non-recovery of missing persons. He demanded answers and resolution to the continued plight of families of missing persons.
Questioning the tactics employed by authorities in addressing this critical issue, he also called for a balance between hope and the grim reality. “Why are the families of the missing persons being called and harassed?” Justice Amjad asked. He further challenged the prevailing narrative, urging transparency and accountability.

“Tell me who took them, and we can’t do anything, go and take them yourself,” Justice Amjad Ali remarked, as he questioned the point of repeatedly calling Joint Investigation Teams (JITs) and the Task Force into action. “Why are you making the poor people cry by calling JITs and Task Force?” he asked.
“Why not tell everyone the truth, tell them so that these people lose hope,” Justice Amjad Ali implored, underscoring the need for accountability and closure in these heartrending cases.
Justice Amjad also summoned the heads of the provincial task force and the JIT for further inquiries. Additionally, the court demanded a report from the Provincial Home Secretary in the case.
