Heatwave in Karachi from today

KARACHI: A heatwave in Karachi is expected from today as the mercury is expected to climb, prompting concerns over heat-related discomfort and potential health risks.

According to the meteorological department, the weather is expected to become hotter as the temperature is likely to go as high as 46 degrees Celsius in upper and central Sindh.

Karachi and other coastal areas of the province are also likely to become hotter as mercury is expected to shoot up. 

They said that the temperature is likely to rise 36°C to 38°C in the port city, which will feel like 40°C-44°C due to higher humidity level.

Lahore’s AQI deteriorates again

Due to the expected scorching hot weather, health experts directed the citizens to take precautionary measures and increase water intake.

Besides staying hydrated, the citizens are advised to wear light clothing to avoid effects of sweltering heat. 

The onset of this heatwave, which began in late April, coincided with a shift in wind direction and humidity levels, exacerbating the already sweltering conditions in the region.

With the looming threat of extreme temperatures, Karachiites are urged to heed the advice of experts and take proactive steps to stay safe and hydrated amidst the relentless summer heat.
