Heavy rain to plague Karachi through Monday

KARACHI: Karachi will face heavy rain and thunderstorms until Monday, the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) stated on Thursday.
The PMD issued a weather alert for Karachi, warning of heavy rainfall from Friday due to an incoming weather disturbance affecting eastern Sindh.

The Met Office warned of possible urban flooding in local sewage channels and low-lying areas across the city of 20 million.
The PMD also warned of urban flooding in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Lahore, Sheikhupura, Kasur, Sialkot, Sargodha, Faisalabad, Nowshera, Mardan, Charsadda, and Peshawar.
Weather update in other regions
The Met Office predicted monsoon rains across Pakistan for Thursday. Rain accompanied with strong winds is forecast for Kashmir, Islamabad, Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, eastern Balochistan, and lower Sindh.
Light rain and drizzle are also predicted for Hyderabad, Thatta, and Badin.
In rural Sindh, districts such as Mirpurkhas, Umerkot, Sanghar, Jamshoro, Dadu, Thatta, Badin, Hyderabad, Tando Allahyar, and Tando Muhammad Khan are likely to see significant rainfall.
Sujawal will face intermittent rain from the Friday night through Monday, with heavy to very heavy rainfall possible in some areas.

There is also a risk of flash flooding in Nowshera, Swabi, Mardan, Charsadda, Peshawar, Buner, Saidu Sharif, Mansehra, Kohistan, Dir, Swat, Shangla, Balakot, Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Murree, and Galliyat
Landslides could block roads in vulnerable hilly areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Murree, Galliyat, and Kashmir.
