HYDERABAD: A woman in Hyderabad delivered six premature infants on Tuesday, with just one surviving by the night.
According to Dawn.com, the mother gave birth to three girls and three boys at a hospital operated by the Khidmat-i-Khalq Foundation, the charitable arm of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM)
Meanwhile, the facility’s additional medical superintendent Dr. Tariq Feroz Memon told the media that the mother went into labor during the 21st week of her pregnancy.

“The infants were born with low birth weights, a condition defined by the World Health Organisation as weighing less than 5.5 pounds,” the doctor added.
The doctor said that babies who typically survive, in the cases like these, are born after 37 to 38 weeks of pregnancy. “We lost five babies of the mother,” he said.
He added by saying that one of the babies experienced intrauterine fetal demise, a clinical term for stillbirth. While the remaining four infants, despite initial gasping, passed away within a span of two to three hours, the doctor said.
” Only one baby girl has managed to survive, though her condition remains critical,” Dr. Memon added.
