KP CONSIDERING REVIVAL OF FCR
The Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is reviewing the possibility of partially restoring the Frontier Crimes Regulations (FCR) force in the merged tribal districts of the province. The move is under consideration due to reported challenges in crime control in the region.
Sources in the Interior Department indicated that the force, previously disbanded after the merger of the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, may be revived under the existing Police Act. Amendments to the Act are being discussed to incorporate selected provisions from the former FCR framework.
According to the home department, one proposal includes reintroducing the Collective Responsibility Clause under the Jirga System into the Police Act. Police officials said that the removal of this clause has made access to certain suspects more difficult in tribal areas.

Consultations with legal experts and stakeholders are ongoing, according to home department sources. The FCR Act was officially abolished following the constitutional merger of FATA with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
