LAHORE: The Traffic Engineering and Planning Agency (TEPA) is set to launch a comprehensive campaign against the installation of illegal billboards along roads in Lahore.
The decision was made by the Director-General of the Lahore Development Authority (LDA), who provided essential directives to TEPA aimed at enhancing traffic flow and engineering within the city.
A meeting convened on Sunday saw the active participation of Chief Engineer Iqrar Hussain and the Director of Enforcement, along with the Project Director.
Director-General Tahir Farooq emphasised the removal of unnecessary billboards from roads, including those installed without proper approval. He also called for stringent enforcement of parking regulations.
During the meeting, Director-General Tahir Farooq urged the LDA and TEPA’s enforcement wing to be more proactive and fully operational.
He specifically directed the LDA TEPA Enforcement Wing to take decisive action against violators. Tahir Farooq further highlighted the importance of adhering to the Chief Minister’s directives, emphasising the completion of patchwork and repairs on roads.
TEPA was instructed to conduct a survey of key roads and promptly submit a detailed report.
According to The News, the Director-General stressed the non-negotiable commitment to quality work, particularly in the improvement of U-turns and the installation of reflectors.
He underscored the need for adherence to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) in handling debris from under-construction buildings.
Moreover, joint actions by TEPA and town planning were mandated in this regard. Tahir Farooq emphasised that TEPA should prioritise maintaining the city’s aesthetic appeal while implementing measures to improve traffic flow.
