ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder and former prime minister Imran Khan has directed the party leadership to expel Sher Afzal Marwat.

According to sources, the PTI has decided to remove National Assembly member Sher Afzal Marwat from the party.

Sources said that following Imran Khan’s instructions, party leaders will soon issue a notification terminating his basic membership.

Once his membership is revoked, Marwat will also be asked to resign from his National Assembly seat.

PTI leaders had lodged complaints with Imran Khan regarding Sher Afzal Marwat’s role in the Swabi rally.

On January 10, the PTI issued a show-cause notice to Sher Afzal Marwat for violating party discipline.

PTI’s Additional Secretary General, Firdous Shamim Naqvi had issued the show-cause notice to Marwat.

“You are not only a Member of the National Assembly but also a member of the Core Committee. You are fully aware of the party’s policies, including those regarding the ongoing negotiations with the government,” the notice had stated.

The notice highlighted that no party member is allowed to make “any negative or derogatory remarks” against the party or any central office-bearer of the party.

“Despite clear instructions from the founder chairman, Imran Khan, you made derogatory comments against PTI’s Secretary General. Additionally, you made negative comments about the ongoing negotiations,” it added.

The notice termed these actions a blatant violation of the party policies and instructions issued by the founder chairman.

Earlier talking to HUM News, PTI senior leader Shaukat Yusufzai had said that MNA Sher Afzal Khan Marwat was a good worker, and he tended to get very emotional and needed to respect the party discipline.

“He is very brave and often takes bold steps but gets in hot waters because of his temperament, which he needs to work on,” he said.

He had said that the government’s failure was evident because the public had rejected the ‘blatant propaganda’.
