RAWALPINDI: The Anti-Terrorism Court in Rawalpindi has rejected the request made by founder of Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaaf, Imran Khan, to allow him to speak to his children once a week via WhatsApp.

The judge, Malik Ejaz Asif, had heard the request filed by the founder of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party, Imran Khan, to have a telephonic meeting with his children.

In response, the jail administration submitted to the court that as per the jail manual, there is no provision for allowing any accused to have a WhatsApp conversation with their relatives.

However, Imran Khan is currently permitted to speak with his sons twice a month as per court orders.

Following the administration’s response, Judge Malik Ejaz Asif dismissed the former Prime Minister’s appeal to speak to his children once a week via WhatsApp.

Khan’s sons, Qasim and Suleman, live in London with their mother and Imran Khan’s ex-wife, Jemima Khan. They have visited Pakistan many times; however, since Imran Khan’s arrest last year, they have not met him so far.

Some time ago, there were news reports that both Qasim and Suleman would visit Pakistan to meet their father in Adiala Jail, Rawalpindi, but the visit did not take place.
