Six Sindh High Court judges receive permanent status

PESHAWAR/KARACHI: Justice Ishtiaq Ibrahim has been designated as the acting Chief Justice of the Peshawar High Court (PHC). This appointment comes following President Asif Ali Zardari’s decision under Article 196 of the Constitution.

Justice Ishtiaq Ibrahim, the most senior judge at the PHC, will assume the role of acting Chief Justice until a permanent appointment is made. The appointment is effective immediately upon his swearing-in.

Simultaneously, the Ministry of Law has issued a notification, with the President’s approval, confirming the permanent status of six additional judges of the Sindh High Court (SHC).

The decision to make these six judges permanent was reached unanimously by the Judicial Commission and endorsed by the Parliamentary Committee. Among those granted permanent status are Justice Amjad Ali Bohiu, Justice Sana Akram Minhas, and Justice Jawad Akbar Sarwa, among others.
