Interior minister Naqvi meets British minister Lord Wajid Khan

Islamabad: Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi held a meeting with British Minister for Faith, Communities and Resettlement Lord Wajid Khan.
During the meeting discussions were held on Pakistan-UK relations, including enhancing cooperation in counter-terrorism, security, and preventing cross-border crimes.
Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry, British High Commissioner Jane Marriott, and Interior Secretary Khurram Agha were also present on occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, Mohsin Naqvi emphasised Pakistan’s desire to further strengthen bilateral cooperation with the UK in all areas of mutual interest.
Lord Wajid Khan condemned the attack on the Jaffar Express and expressed condolences to the families of the martyrs.
He acknowledged Pakistan’s immense sacrifices in the war against terrorism.
The interior minister said that the sacrifices of Pakistan’s security forces serve as an example for the entire world.
He added that Pakistan is the only country where every segment of society has made unparalleled sacrifices in the fight against terrorism.
He stressed that the international community must support Pakistan in this regard without any delay and that the role of the UK is of crucial importance.
Lord Wajid Khan expressed gratitude to the Ministry of Interior for facilitating the relocation of Afghan refugees to the UK.
Interior minister said that the repatriation of the illegal foreign nationals is proceeding smoothly, with such individuals being returned to their home countries with dignity.
He emphasised that no action is being taken against foreign nationals possessing valid documents.
Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry added that every possible facility is being provided to illegal foreign nationals during the repatriation process.
Earlier in the day, H.E Dr Jemal Beker Abdula, Special Envoy and Ambassador Extraordinary of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia (FDRE), called on Mohsin Naqvi to discuss various areas of bilateral cooperation.
The two sides discussed Ethiopia-Pakistan bilateral relations, including the commencement of Ethiopian Airlines operations from Karachi, which has strengthened Pakistan’s relations not only with Ethiopia but also with Africa.
Prospects for bilateral cooperation for peace and security also came under discussion during the meeting.
The Ambassador congratulated the minister on hosting of the International Cricket Council Champions Trophy 2025 by Pakistan.
Highlighting the global challenges faced by the globe, such as climate change, terrorism, and piracy, the ambassador underlined the need for forging bilateral cooperation to achieve the common objectives of peace and prosperity.
He said Ethiopia and Pakistan are working together in multilateral forums to ensure international peace and security, especially under the Blue Helmets of the United Nations.
The minister agreed on the need for enhancing bilateral cooperation between the two countries to advance the mutual interests of the two nations.

He assured the ambassador of his full support in further strengthening the bilateral relations and multilateral cooperation between the two countries.
