Inzamam-ul-Haq resigns as chief selector

LAHORE: The chief selector of the national cricket team, Inzamam-ul-Haq, has resigned from his position.

In his statement, Inzamam-ul-Haq expressed his concern that people often make allegations without conducting proper investigations. He believed that if questions were raised about him, it was better to resign. He said, “If there are any questions about me, it’s better to step aside.”

He said that he is available for any inquiry by the Pakistan Cricket Board and is willing to provide evidence to support his statement. He emphasized the importance of conducting thorough investigations before making accusations.

Inzamam-ul-Haq further stated that he had also suggested to the PCB that they should conduct an inquiry and, if there are any allegations against him, evidence should be provided. He clarified that he had no connection with a player’s agent company in the UK, and such allegations were baseless.

He said that when allegations were made against him, he had a conversation with the board and suggested that they conduct an inquiry. He was then informed that a committee of five persons had been formed. In response, he decided to resign from his position until the committee completes its investigation.

He concluded by saying that once everything is clear, he would be willing to sit down with the PCB for further discussions.

It’s worth noting that Inzamam-ul-Haq’s resignation came at a time when the national cricket team was in India for the World Cup, and the team was facing consecutive losses in the event. Green shirts had lost four consecutive matches.

Meanwhile, PCB Management Committee Chairman Zaka Ashraf has stated that I was not present in the office, how could I have met Inzamam-ul-Haq?

Zaka Ashraf said that “Inzamam-ul-Haq is our hero, and I am always available to meet with him. A five-member committee has been formed, consisting of members from the anti-corruption unit and PCB officials, to probe the allegations.
