Ishaq Dar reaches Washington, set to meet US counterpart today

WASHINGTON: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Ishaq Dar has arrived in Washington, DC on a one day official visit. He will also meet his US counterpart Marco Rubio today.
He was received by Pakistan’s Ambassador Rizwan Saeed Sheikh and senior embassy officials.
According to the Foreign Office, Ishaq Dar will meet US Secretary of State Marco Rubio today at the State Department. The meeting will focus on various aspects of Pakistan-US relations, especially on boosting trade, investment, and economic cooperation.

The two leaders will also exchange views on regional and global issues of mutual interest.
During his stay, Ishaq Dar will also deliver a speech at the renowned American think tank, The Atlantic Council. In his address, he will highlight Pakistan’s position, the regional situation, and the future of Pakistan-US relations.
This visit comes at a time when bilateral ties between Pakistan and the United States are being viewed in a new strategic and economic context.
