Islamabad weather: Light rain reported in different parts of the city


Light rain predicted in Islamabad

ISLAMABAD: Light rain fell across different areas of Islamabad and Rawalpindi in the early hours of Thursday, providing a break from the persistent cold, dry weather.

The rain contributed to a drop in temperatures, chilling the twin cities even more.

According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), cold weather is expected to persist in Islamabad.

The temperature is forecasted to range between 0 degrees Celsius and 2 degrees Celsius on Thursday, with humidity hovering around 61 per cent.

The Met Office also issued a warning for the development of ‘moderate fog’ in several regions during the morning hours. The fog may reduce visibility and impact travel conditions in the regions.

On Tuesday, the Met Office alerted the public to the possibility of rain, thunderstorms and even heavy snowfall in the northern parts of the country during the first week of January.

The cold spell in expected to last until January 6, with heavy snowfall in Murree likely to affect weather conditions in Islamabad and Rawalpindi.

Thunderstorms are also expected over the capital and the Potohar region, which may lead to further fluctuations in weather patterns.

The PMD has advised residents to remain vigilant and take necessary precautions to avoid any ‘adverse’ situations.
