Islamabad welcomes first winter rain

ISLAMABAD: Residents of Islamabad on Monday morning welcomed the first winter rain of the season as scattered rain and hail storms are being reported in several areas of the federal capital.

 Heavy rain with hail storm has been reported from Shehzad Town area, while rain has been reported in other areas of the city including G-6, G-7, F-7, Bara Kahu and Murree Road.

The winter rain in Islamabad has put an end to the dry spell in the city which has given rise to several ailments such as flu, dry cough and diarrohea. The elderly and minor children are the worst sufferers.

Meanwhile, according to the Meteorological Department severe cold weather is expected in the country’s mountainous areas.

 Rain is likely in some parts of Islamabad and its surrounding areas.

Upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is expected to experience rain with thunder in most regions.
Snowfall is predicted in various mountainous areas across the country, according to the Met Department.

Rain and snowfall are likely in some areas of Gilgit-Baltistan. In Azad Kashmir, rain and snowfall are expected in some regions.

Partly cloudy weather is predicted in Murree, Galyat, and surrounding areas.
The cold wave continues across most districts of Balochistan, says the Meteorological Department.

Fog is expected in Sialkot, Narowal, Gujranwala, Mangla, Jhelum, Rawalpindi, Lahore, Sheikhupura, Kasur, Okara, and Sahiwal.

Foggy conditions are expected in Sargodha, Toba Tek Singh, Hafizabad, Faisalabad, Jhang, Bhakkar, Layyah, Multan, Bahawalpur, Bahawalnagar, Khanewal, Khanpur, and Rahim Yar Khan.

Foggy weather is expected in Dera Ghazi Khan and surrounding areas, according to the Meteorological Department.

Fog is also anticipated in Sukkur, Benazirabad, Shikarpur, Kashmore, Khairpur, and nearby regions.

Rain is expected in Chitral, Dir, Swat, Kohistan, Shangla, Battagram, Mansehra, and Abbottabad.

Foggy conditions are likely in Bannu, Lakki Marwat, Dera Ismail Khan, Peshawar, Nowshera, and Mardan.
