ISLAMABAD: Deputy Commissioner Irfan Nawaz Memon has extended an unconditional apology for attempting to influence Justice Babar Sattar of the Islamabad High Court, but his apology was subsequently denied.
This incident took place during the hearing of a contempt of court case involving the Deputy Commissioner, the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), and the Superintendent of Police (SP). The case revolves around allegations of exceeding their powers in the Maintenance of Public Order (MPO) case against Sharyar Afridi.

Presiding over the case, Justice Babar Sattar of the Islamabad High Court accused the Deputy Commissioner of obstructing justice. During the course of the hearing, Justice Babar confronted the Deputy Commissioner, stating, “You are accused of obstruction of justice. You approached my family and friends to influence me. You are playing with fire.”
In response to the allegations, the Deputy Commissioner staunchly denied any wrongdoing, asserting, “I have not asked anyone to approach you. I apologize to the court.”
However, Justice Babar Sattar rejected the Deputy Commissioner’s unconditional apology and delivered a pointed message, saying, “Perhaps you use telephone calls to achieve your objectives, but the court does not. Given your conduct and state of mind, the apology is deemed ineffective.”
The Islamabad High Court continues to handle the case, with further developments expected in the near future.
