ISLAMABAD: Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaarul Haq Kakar addressed his newly appointed interim cabinet on Friday, acknowledging their limited mandate while expressing a firm commitment to contribute positively during their tenure.
The interim cabinet comprises 24 members from diverse backgrounds, including politicians, artists, TV anchors, retired bureaucrats, and servicemen.
Kakar began his address by expressing pride in having assembled “one of the best teams” to navigate the nation through the interim period.

Despite this limited timeframe, Kakar emphasized the caretaker set-up’s commitment to building upon the national and international commitments made by previous governments. He stressed the importance of supporting new initiatives within the bounds of the law and Constitution.
Notably, he singled out the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC) as a significant undertaking that held great potential for Pakistan’s development.
The Prime Minister hailed the SIFC as a “dream come true,” especially for a nation rich in natural and mineral resources. He reflected on his own background, hailing from Balochistan, and the pride that many took in their country’s resources, despite not fully understanding their potential.
Kakar credited the collaborative efforts of various institutions, with a lead role played by the Pakistan military, for bringing this dream to fruition.

He also reiterated the importance of maintaining order and stability within Pakistan’s governance systems, be they secular or religious theocratic. He said that “chaos and anarchy” have no place in governance.
Kakar further recognised the diverse fabric of Pakistan, a nation encompassing various ethnicities, creeds, and religious backgrounds. He emphasized the need to uphold the ideals of unity and shared citizenship, invoking Quaid-i-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah’s historic speech on August 11, 1947.
This speech projected a vision where rights are not dictated by individual identities, reaffirming the commitment to an inclusive and equitable society.
