Karachi: 12,781 police, soldiers to be deployed for Eidul Azha


12,781 police officers and soldiers would be deployed to oversee security during Eidul Azha prayers across the city, the Additional Inspectors General of police (IG) Karachi announced on Saturday.

KARACHI: 12,781 police officers and soldiers would be deployed to oversee security during Eidul Azha prayers across the city, the Additional Inspector-General of police (IG) Karachi announced on Saturday.

The additional IG stated he has instructed “stringent security measures” for Eidul Azha prayer gatherings and outlined specific deployment details. 5,600 personnel will be on duty in the eastern district, 3,656 in the southern district, and 3,525 in the west district. 2,170 officers and personnel will also staff sacrificial skin collection points.

The additional IG issued security alerts for bazaars, shopping centers, markets, and other crowded places in Karachi. He directed efforts to ensure smooth traffic flow amidst heightened security measures.

Meanwhile, Karachi’s Water and Seweage Board Management has also finaldzed preparations for Eidul Azha, focusing on ensuring effective water supply and drainage around Eid prayer venues, mosques, and “Imambargahs”.

Officers and employees of the water management board will remain on duty throughout the Eidul Azha holidays, ensuring uninterrupted services. The engineer overseeing the water supply and drainage measures stated that these efforts were to support the community during the festive period.

Free water tankers will also be provided to mosques, Imambargahs, and “Eidgahs” across Karachi.
