Karachi: Mobile signals down across the provincial capital

KARACHI: Mobile signals across Karachi were completely shut down on Monday by the Sindh governed on account of Chehlum.
The Chehlum was observed the residents of the nation’s largest city to mark the 40th day of mourning of Hazrat Imam Hussain and the Karbala martyrs.

Mobile signals were blocked in Karachi and other cities across Sindh including Khairpur, Larkana, Sukkur, Shikarpur and Hyderabad.
The signals are expected to be restored by Tuesday morning (midnight).
The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) announced that mobile signals would be blocked across the country from Sunday night till Monday.
The telecommunications regulatory authority stated that cellular services were suspended following directives from the Interior Ministry. “Voice and data services will remain inactive immediately”.
Earlier, the provincial government ordered all education institutes across the province to shut down. Public and private schools across Sindh shuttered down on account of the Chehlum.
Civilian use of drone cameras was strictly prohibited. Meanwhile, CCTV security cameras were set up across the city to observe the Chehlum processions across the city.
Thousands of security personnel were also deployed across Karachi and the wider province.

The government observed strict security protocol due to concerns of extremist elements disrupting Chehlum processions across Karachi.
The primary Chehlum process in Karachi began at Nishtar Park and finished in Khar Dar.
