Police reports indicate that there is also information regarding the presence of a body within the well. The surrounding areas were affected by a strong smell of gas, complicating rescue efforts.
Emergency personnel are facing a huge challenge entering the well due to the hazardous gas levels. Representatives from the Pak-Arab Refinery Company Limited (PARCO) and Sui Southern Gas Company are also present at the scene. However, PARCO officials stated that their gas line is located far from the well site.
Two vehicles and a motorcycle were also discovered out the plot of land where the well is located. Colleagues of the person believed to be in the well attempted to recover the body but were unsuccessful.

After failing to retrieve the body, they contacted emergency services and left the scene. Whether the colleagues were involved in the person’s death is unknown, with an official investigation pending.
Police have indicated that rescue operations will only be feasible once the gas supply is shut off.
Gas theft remain a huge issue in the energy-starved Pakistan, suffering from chronic energy crisis for decades. In January 2025 alone, the Sui South Gas Company reported disconnecting over 14,000 illegal gas connections across Sindh and Balochistan.
In Karachi alone, the company’s Customer Relationship Department (CRD) removed thousands of illegal domestic connections in a single month.
