SSGC disconnects record-breaking 14,768 illegal gas connections

KARACHI: Sui Southern Gas Company Ltd. has made it its mission to eliminate the menace of gas theft. Company’s Security Services and Counter Gas Theft Operations (SS&CGTO) teams along with Customer Relationship Department (CRD) teams, disconnected a record breaking 14,768 illegal gas connections across its franchise areas of Sindh and Balochistan.

In Karachi only, CRD teams removed 14,517 illegal domestic connections, in multiple areas such as, Korangi and Bin Qasim with the highest disconnections in Lyari. On the other hand, in Quetta, 226 illegal connections were removed where culprits had installed overhead and underground clamps to access gas illegally from the Company’s main service line. Moreover, in Hyderabad, 25 illegal connections were removed from Qasimabad.

Aggressive crackdowns will continue on gas thieves, as gas theft is a major crime against the community and such activities need to be nibbed in the bud. The Company appeals to all its customers to come forward and report incidences of gas theft on its around-the-clock operational helpline 1199, or contact the Company representatives through their Customer Facilitation Centers.
