Private high schools are required to pay an annual tax ranging from Rs 30,000 to Rs 100,000. For private higher secondary institutions, the tax ranges from Rs 40,000 to Rs 150,000.
Graduate-level private universities will be taxed up to Rs 200,000 per annum, and private universities offering postgraduate degrees will face an annual tax of Rs 250,000.
The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has allocated the highest budget for education, according to provincial Finance Advisor Muzzammil Aslam. He noted that private educational institutions were previously taxed based on property value.

“The new tax system, however, categorises institutions by type and location rather than building size. Urban schools fall under category A, with progressively lower taxes applied to rural institutions in categories B, C, and D. This progressive tax structure is designed to provide concessions and benefits to schools, particularly those in rural areas,” he added.
