KP anti-corruption report 2024: over Rs 2.5 billion recovered

PESHAWAR: The anti-corruption department in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) has recovered over Rs 2.5 billion in various corruption cases during their drive against corruption, according to the KP anti-corruption report 2024.
According to a performance report released by the KP Anti-Corruption department, 43 FIRs were registered against corruption and irregularities, with 186 accused charged and 92 arrested in year 2024.
More than 2,200 kanals of government land were retrieved from land grabbers, and embezzlement of Rs 1.9 billion in medicine procurement was also identified, according to the report.
IRREGULARITIES IN KP OIL & GAS COMPANY
Meanwhile, the 2021-22 audit report highlighted financial irregularities worth Rs 400 million in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Oil & Gas Company.
The treasury suffered a Rs 40 million loss due to unnecessary hiring in various cadres while over Rs 150 million was paid to unnecessary daily wage employees.
It was also revealed in the report that provincial directors received Rs 13 million in illegal payments, and the company had to face a Rs 23 million loss due to security equipment and special allowances.
Unlawful appointments caused an additional Rs 38.8 million loss to the treasury, the report highlighted.
