PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has prepared a legal draft for the dismissal of 6,000 government employees recruited during the caretaker government.
The draft will be submitted to the provincial assembly for approval after receiving consent from the chief minister and the provincial cabinet.
According to sources, a meeting was held on Tuesday at the Civil Secretariat to review the legal draft for the dismissal of these employees.
Provincial ministers and government officials participated in the meeting. The number of employees recruited during the caretaker period, the NOC issued by the election commission and various constitutional points were also reviewed.

The legal draft to dismiss these employees was approved during the meeting, and it was decided to send it to the Establishment Department for further revision.
According to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Law Minister, Aftab Alam, these 6,000 employees were recruited in violation of the constitution and the law.
The provincial government, therefore, prepared a legal draft to address the issue, he said.
He said that the election commission had issued a notification stating that the caretaker government did not have the authority to recruit or transfer employees. However, the caretaker provincial government proceeded with the recruitment of thousands of people.
The provincial law minister said that the legal draft will be presented to the provincial assembly for approval after the chief minister and provincial cabinet’s consent. Once the legislation is passed, these employees will be dismissed from their government positions.
