PESHAWAR: The Special Committee of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Assembly, tasked with investigating the October 5 raid on KP House Islamabad by Rangers and Islamabad Police, has completed its preliminary inquiry and submitted the report to the Provincial Assembly Secretariat.
According to the Secretariat, the committee’s preliminary report estimated the damage caused by the raid at around Rs9 million.
Sources said that the report also alleged that the police seized Rs6 million in cash from the offices of KP House during the raid.
In the report, the Islamabad police have accused of vandalizing the premises, seizing licenced weapons, and taking other equipment during the raid.
Speaking in the provincial assembly on Wednesday, the chairman of the special committee, Munir Hussain Laghmani, confirmed the submission of the preliminary report and announced that a more detailed report would follow soon.
He further said that the Secretary of Administration and the Advocate General have been assigned the task of filing FIRs in Peshawar and Islamabad against those involved in the attack on KP House.
The opposition members in the provincial assembly earlier assured their cooperation with the government on the matter.
It is noteworthy that Rangers and Islamabad Police raided KP House on October 5 in an attempt to arrest Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur. Several individuals were arrested during the raid.
