LHC orders inquiry into Lahore underpass project

LAHORE: Lahore High Court (LHC) on Thursday ordered formation of an inquiry committee to probe faulty drainage that submerged recently inaugurated Central Business District (CBD) Underpass.

Justice  Shahid Karim also directed to immediately halt all development work being undertaken within the limits of CBD till further orders.

During the proceedings, Justice Karim asked authorities to compensate individuals who have suffered loss due to accumulation of rainwater.

“What action would be taken against the contractor?”, inquired Justice Karim.

He said precious public money has been spent on the hastily-completed project where rainwater accumulates during recent monsoon season.
