Light rain starts in Karachi, more rains in Punjab

KARACHI: Light rain and drizzle were reported in several parts of Karachi on Monday morning, turning the weather pleasant, while more rain has been forecast for Punjab in the next 24 hours.
Areas including Defence, Korangi Road, Shahrah-e-Faisal, Burns Road, M.A. Jinnah Road, Qayyumabad, Mehmoodabad, Manzoor Colony, Baloch Colony, Gulshan-e-Iqbal and Gulistan-e-Jauhar witnessed light rain.
Showers were also recorded around University Road, Jamshed Road, Jehangir Road, I.I. Chundrigar Road, and Saddar.
The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) and NDMA has forecast heavy rains in the city over the next three days.
Meanwhile, torrential rains lashed parts of interior Sindh, including Vehari and Sukkur, where several low-lying areas were submerged and power supply was disrupted.

In Larkana and its adjoining areas, thunderstorms accompanied by rain inundated several neighbourhoods.
Sindh government spokesperson Arsalan Islam Sheikh visited disposal stations in Sukkur to review drainage operations.
He instructed authorities to keep all pumping stations fully functional during the ongoing spell.
Sheikh warned that rains are expected to continue until September 11 and advised citizens to exercise caution, avoid unnecessary travel, and stay away from electrical equipment during downpours.
MORE RAINS FORECAST FOR PUNJAB
Heavy rains are expected in several Punjab cities over the next 24 hours, including Lahore, Rawalpindi, and Gujrat.
According to the forecast, Bahawalpur, Bahawalnagar, Rajanpur, Khanpur, Muzaffargarh, and Dera Ghazi Khan are also likely to receive strong downpours.
The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has warned of possible urban flooding in major cities.
Officials cautioned that the situation in flood-hit areas of Punjab could worsen further due to the fresh spell of rains.
