ISLAMABAD: The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) has announced a significant rise in the prices of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), impacting citizens already facing financial strain.
According to a statement, Irfan Khokhar, Chairman of the LPG Association, asserted that the regulatory body hiked the LPG price by Rs30 per kilogram.
He claimed that OGRA without issuing an official notification is implementing the increase in prices of LPG cylinder.
Petrol price to remain unchanged for the next two weeks of March 2024
Irfan Khokhar highlighting the discrepancies said that in many cities like Lahore LPG is being sold at Rs 350 per kg, surpassing the official price of Rs 257 per kg.
Moreover, in hilly regions, LPG is being sold at an alarming Rs 410 per kg.
Khokhar attributed the surge in prices to LPG quota holders and importers, accusing them of orchestrating an artificial shortage of the commodity nationwide.
Earlier in March, OGRA had reduced the price of LPG for the same month. In a notification, the authority decreased the LPG price by Rs10 per kg, with commercial cylinder prices reduced by Rs37.
At present, there is a daily production of 2000 metric tons of LPG across the country while the local consumption has crossed 5000 tons
