“Margalla Trail Patrol” to be launched: Naqvi

ISLAMABAD: To boost security, Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has announced that regular patrolling will be initiated along the Margalla Trails in Islamabad.

“We’re launching the “Margalla Trail Patrol” to secure the beautiful trails of Margalla, especially for the safety of foreigners who love exploring them” Mohsin Naqvi posted on his social media platfrom’X’.

Our tri-pronged security cover includes Trail Motorcycles, mounted Police (horses), and foot patrolling, the interior minister said.

Minister Naqvi emphasized that the primary objective of this initiative is to safeguard the picturesque trails.

This announcement comes in the wake of a recent robbery incident involving foreigners on the Margalla Trails earlier this month.

A group of foreign female tourists alongside five Pakistani companions were looted on Hiking trail of Margalla Hills, Islamabad. The tourists were going to the stopover for hiking when the robbers stopped them at gunpoint in the Margalla Hills. 

According to the police, after extracting one lakh twenty thousand rupees from mobile phones, ATM cards, and other valuables of the tourists, the robbers fled.
