FAISALABAD: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has criticised the government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) for focusing on ‘vandalism and attacks’ instead of addressing public needs.
During a speech in Faisalabad, she noted that patients from K-P province are frequently found receiving treatment in hospitals of Punjab.
Maryam emphasised that while previous leaders may have made promises and delivered speeches, her administration has made significant progress by prioritising merit.
She highlighted that, despite opposition within her party, she included 90 per cent of ‘capable young people in her government.’

She also announced the upcoming launch of the largest farmer support package in Pakistan’s history, valued at RS 400 billion rupees, which is set to be introduced next year.
She urged the youth to reflect on the failures of past governments that claimed to serve them but failed to deliver. She stressed that politics is a vital part of everyone’s life but has been tarnished by poor governance.
Maryam questioned the credibility of leaders who promised jobs but failed to deliver. “Show me one youth who got a job on merit in the last six years,” she challenged, criticizing the lack of transparency in job placements under previous administrations.
The Punjab Chief Minister, while addressing the audience, emphasized that Punjab is her responsibility. “I don’t know how long I will serve as Chief Minister, but I am committed to my duty,” she stated, hinting at her determination to bring reforms.
“Do you want a country where foul language and arson dominate?” Maryam asked the crowd, denouncing the chaotic state of politics. “It’s easy to make bold claims, but difficult to deliver results,” she added, calling for a focus on governance rather than hollow rhetoric.
Addressing the issue of healthcare, Maryam revealed that there is a backlog of 15,000 children needing heart surgeries, with arrangements made for immediate surgeries for 100 children, including several from KP.
She urged KP’s leadership to focus on public welfare and infrastructure improvements rather than engaging in destructive actions and inflammatory rhetoric.
