ISLAMABAD: The Metro Bus service in Islamabad will continue to remain suspended on Monday, according to the district administration.
However, the metro service in Rawalpindi between Saddar Station and Faizabad has resumed.
The metro service in the twin cities has been suspended since Friday due to the protest called by the Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaaf (PTI) and security concerns in the capital.
Major roads reopen for traffic in Islamabad after four days
The suspension of the metro bus service in Islamabad is causing severe inconvenience for thousands of daily commuters, especially students, government employees, and laborers who rely on this affordable transport option.
The Metro Bus Service serves over 125,000 passengers daily, and such unexpected disruptions greatly impact commuters’ routines.
Commuters between the key areas of Faizabad and Pak Secretariat, which includes government offices and important business hubs, have been particularly affected.
Authorities have cited “security concerns” and potential unrest near government buildings as the primary reasons for the shutdown.
The district administration has assured the public that they are working to restore full metro services as soon as the situation stabilizes.
The Rawalpindi-Islamabad Metrobus is an 83.6km bus rapid transit system operating in the twin cities of Islamabad and Rawalpindi.
