Morning show host booked for domestic violence

KARACHI: Police on Monday registered an FIR against a morning show host of a private TV news channel on the complaint of his wife.

According to the North Nazimabad police, sections related to torture and hurling threats had been inserted in the case registered against host Ashfaque Ishaque Satti.

The Force informed that medical examination of morning show host Ashfaque’s wife Nomika Ashfaque, had been conducted at Abbasi Shaheed Hospital.

According to the FIR, the woman said that on January 22, Satti picked her up from her mother’s home, took her to his home where he tortured her in various ways for hours and also threatened to kill her. 

On Sunday night, former news anchor Rabia Anam took to her X account and shared the horrific story of domestic abuse and violence of a girl named Nomaika. The girl has accused Ashfaque of locking her up in the room and beating her viciously while threatening to kill her. 

Nomika also shared her bruised pictures on her social media platforms and narrating her ordeal.

Nomaika says she was locked up in the room for days without water and food which has badly affected her health.

She also alleged that the police initially did not register the case, and even when it was finally registered, no action had been taken.

As per media reports, Ashfaque has three wives, and Nomika is the second wife.

On the other hand, fearing police’s raid, morning show’s anchor has disappeared.
