LAHORE: In a bid to ensure the safety of commuters, multiple motorways in different parts of the country have been temporarily closed due to dense fog, as reported by the Motorway Police.

Motorway M1, stretching from Islamabad Toll Plaza towards Peshawar, has been shut down due to poor visibility.

Similarly, the section of Motorway M1 from Swabi to Peshawar has also been closed, affecting the flow of traffic in the region.

The restrictions on heavy vehicles have been implemented on the M2 Motorway, specifically from Islamabad Toll Plaza to Kot Momin.

Furthermore, the closure extends to the segment from Lahore Thokar Niaz Beg to Pindi Bhattian on M2.

In addition to these closures, Motorway M2 from Sheikhupura to Haran Minar has been affected, as has M14, which is closed for heavy traffic from Dera Ismail Khan to Dawood Khel.

The M14 route is completely off-limits to all traffic from Kharpa to Kot Beliyan during nighttime hours.

Motorway Police have also announced the closure of the Lahore-Sialkot Motorway from Mahmood Boti to Sambrial and the M5 from Rohri to Och Sharif due to the adverse weather conditions caused by heavy fog.

Further disruptions are reported on Motorway M4, which is closed from Shamkot to Pindi Bhattian and Faisalabad, as well as M3, which is not accessible for traffic from Faizpur to Darkhana.

A spokesperson for the Motorway Police emphasised that these measures are taken to prevent accidents and ensure the safety of motorway users.

Commuters are strongly advised to refrain from unnecessary travel during foggy conditions, complete their journeys in daylight, and reach their destinations before the onset of fog.

The Motorway Police encourage citizens to stay informed about the current road conditions and cooperate with the authorities to minimize any inconvenience caused by the temporary closures.
